Tampa is known for a few things; Beaches, restaurants, and sports, just to name a few. But, one area that we view is vitally important, and a huge benefit of living in Tampa, is rarely mention and highlighted as it should! Travel! Tampa is home to 2 International airports as well as an International cruise port. And us Tampanians (yes, this is a real word) are in a prime spot to become the avid world travelers that we have always dreamed of being.

As stated above, there are two international Airports in the Tampa area. The first (and largest) is Tampa International Airport (TIA), which serves about 30 different airlines, luxury and domestic alike. Southwest Airlines comprises the largest share of the daily activity at TIA, completing up to 84 flights per 24 hours. St. Pete-Clearwater International (PIE) is a smaller airport, servicing mostly Allegiant domestic flights. Allegiant just introduced $49 nonstop flights in and out of PIE. Talk about a deal. Not only are there some awesome deals for flights out of Tampa, these two airports are renowned for their speed from ticket counter to gate. Where at some Airports, it might take you two hours to get to your gate (New York airports, I’m looking at you), Tampa takes anywhere from 10-30 minutes.

If you don’t particularly enjoy flying, but do want to travel, then what about cruises? Tampa is home to a huge cruise port, servicing cruises in the Caribbean, Mexico, and Central America! Locals are privy to last minute deals from the port. No weekend plans, no worries! Take a cruise, get some sun, and eat as much ice cream as you want. That sounds like a pretty great way to spend a few days to us.

Our city has so much to offer its residents, so take advantage of the travel opportunities, and hopefully you will fall in love with Tampa as much as we have.
